It is with great sadness that the Rotary Club of Forked River announces the passing of one of its long time members, a valued friend and genuine nice guy.
Richard Godfrey Hyer, Esq., 69, died from injuries following a fall.
Richard was born in Somerville, New Jersey and moved to Forked River in 1973. A graduate of Somerville High School, Fairleigh Dickenson University and the University of Toledo Law School. He was a practicing attorney in Forked River for 44 years.
He is survived by his wife, Janice, two daughters, Dr. Jennifer Hyer (Brian Bohr) and Kathryn Hyer (James Kissko), granddaughter Charlotte Isabelle Kissko and Myles Hyer, his beloved cat. He will be missed by many, many other family, friends and neighbors.
He was a proud member, for more than 42 years of the Rotary Club of Forked River where he served as a past president and a Paul Harris Fellow award recipient. Richard was known for his humor, his love of music from the 1950s, and the Pontiac GTO that he drove in his youth. He wanted to be remembered for “being 6’2”, his amazing career as an astronaut and being better looking than Troy Donohue.”
Godspeed Rich. We will miss you
