To whom it may concern, my name is Kayla Sansevere and I was fortunate enough to receive a generous, annual scholarship from the Forked River Rotary Club as a member of the Lacey Township High School graduating class of 2016. I wanted to send the Rotary Club an update on how my studies are going, and how the scholarship has benefited me. I currently attend Arcadia University as a rising sophomore with a major in Psychology and minor in Spanish. In Fall 2016, my first semester of university, I was able to study abroad in Stirling, Scotland--an experience I hold close to my heart and immensely cherish. While adjusting to a new country's culture, I succeeded not only in achieving a 3.3 GPA, but also discovering a place I call "home". Upon my arrival at Arcadia in January 2017, I again found myself adjusting to an unfamiliar place with a deep sadness of leaving the life I had created for myself in Scotland. Regardless, I was able to finish my spring semester with a 4.0 GPA. I also became heavily involved in my university's community, as I am now an Orientation Leader, First-Year Study Abroad Experience mentor, and Teacher's Assistant. In the fall, I will begin both my own research opportunities and assists professors in their research. I am also taking 20 credits while maintaining a work-study position. As for this summer, I am working a part-time job and participating as a hospice volunteer, where I comfort individuals with care and compassion in their last living days. I am thankful the Rotary Club awarded me with such a generous scholarship, as it assists me in achieving the various goals I create and allows me to take advantage of every opportunity. I truly feel as if I am able to embody the Rotary Club's guiding principles of service, fellowship, diversity, integrity, and leadership, in all future endeavors and achievements. I hope you are able to share this message with fellow Rotarians whenever possible. Thank you, again!
